Inauguration of Wings of Mexico at Lumpini Park Bangkok

Bangkok (Thailand) – November 25, 2016 (travelindex.com) – The Ambassador of Mexico to Thailand together with the Thailand’s Honorable Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, inaugurated the famous sculpture, “Wings of Mexico” by the renowned Mexican artist Jorge Marín, at Lumpini Park, Bangkok.

“Wings of Mexico” is an interactive 3.5 mts. bronze sculpture that allows us, at least for a second, to live the dream of flying; the permanent exhibition will take place at the “Paseo de la Reforma” Avenue in Mexico City. The Lumpini Park Bangkok is the last stop of its tour of Asia.

In her brief speech, Thailand’s  Minister of Tourism and Sports, reminded the assembled community of the long standing friendship between Mexico and Thailand and the importance of Lumpini Park as a heaven of peace and relaxation in the heart of the city where people from all walks of life come to run and exercise. She said “Wings of Mexico, as a symbol of Love, Peace, Freedom and Embrace and therefore will be a great inspiration to all visitors to the park.

Jorge Marín, born in 1963, is one of the greatest representatives of Mexican figurative art who decided to adopt bronze as his medium of expression. He holds a strong aim to take art onto public spaces, as they foster social regeneration and nurture the understanding of the city as fundamentally human space.

Until Sunday April 30th, 2017, you will be able to admire and “fly” the sculpture at the King Rama VI Statue Gate, 139/4 Witthayu Road, Lumpini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok (Sala Daeng BTS / Silom MRT).
